Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) organised a skill development workshop on mango cultivation and post‑harvest management at the SIRD campus in Bhubaneswar.
Farmers and agricultural officers from 15 major mango‑producing districts participated in the program.
Experts guided participants on safe harvesting techniques, scientific post‑harvest handling, and strategies to boost export potential. The workshop emphasised fruit quality preservation, grading, packaging, cold chain management, and market linkages. Specialists advised farmers to explore international markets to increase profitability and enhance Odisha’s mango demand globally.
Additional CEO (Finance), Sanjeev Kumar Singh, said the training would help farmers gain knowledge to reach overseas markets with their produce. Additional CEO (Administration) Geetanjali Behera added that proper care prevents premature spoilage and improves farmer incomes.
Farmer organisations welcomed the initiative, describing it as a timely step to strengthen mango cultivation and marketing. Participants expressed confidence that the training would improve both domestic and export prospects for Odisha mangoes.
