The Government of India invited applications for 20 consultant positions with the Eighth Central Pay Commission, which will revise pay, allowances, and pensions for central employees and pensioners.

The commission aims to bring in experts for data analysis, legal research, and policy recommendations before its implementation in 2026.

The recruitment drive includes five senior consultants, five consultants, and ten young professionals on fixed-term contracts. Applicants can apply through the official website 8cpc.gov.in until all vacancies are filled. The roles offer both full-time and part-time options.

Candidates must hold a Master’s or MBA in finance, human resources, or industrial relations, or an LL.B with relevant legal experience. Experience requirements range from four years for young professionals to over ten years for senior consultants. The age limit varies between 32 and 45 years. Proficiency in Excel, spreadsheets, and presentations is essential, and prior experience in pay structure analysis will be preferred.

Monthly pay ranges from ₹90,000 for young professionals to ₹1.8 lakh for senior consultants, with proportional rates for part-time roles. Consultants will analyse salary and pension data, review emolument structures, conduct legal research, and estimate fiscal impacts. No additional benefits such as DA, accommodation, or medical reimbursement are included.

The 8th Central Pay Commission, chaired by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, continues India’s decade-long cycle of pay revisions. It will implement recommendations from January 1, 2026, with debates ongoing over the fitment factor that determines salary hikes.
