Police launched a massive crackdown on the cattle mafia across Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts. Teams raided 35 locations and seized cash, gold, silver ornaments, vehicles, firearms, and sharp weapons.
The operation continues under the supervision of the DIG, Eastern Range, Pinak Mishra.
In Bhadrak, police raided suspected cattle smugglers’ houses in Puruna Bazaar and Guji Darada. Officers seized ornaments worth over Rs 2 crore, cash exceeding Rs 20 lakh, and dangerous weapons, including guns and sharp blades. Eight suspects faced arrest, including Sek Mobarak Khan and his associates. SP Manoj Rout led the operation with six platoons of force and senior officers.
In Balasore, police raided nine locations, including Sahadevkhunta, Astia, Barikpur, and Khaira. Teams seized cash, vehicles, electronic gadgets, property papers, and cattle meat. Police also rescued several cattle during the raids. SP Pratyush Dibakar confirmed that financial transactions of suspected traders will undergo investigation.
