Kantamal police seized 9 quintals of ganja during a raid in Malangi forest under the supervision of IIC Basudeb Bhoi.
A police team launched the operation early today. On spotting the police, smugglers fled the scene, leaving behind the huge stock of ganja. Police registered a case under the NDPS Act and began an investigation.
The raid team included SI Prakash Bhoi, PAI Manas Pradhan, home guards, and IRB jawans. Officials confirmed that the seized ganja will be produced before the court as part of the legal process.
Police sources stated that Kandhamal district has witnessed several such seizures in recent months, reflecting intensified operations against narcotics smuggling. Authorities emphasised that strict action will continue against those involved in the illegal ganja trade.
