Salman Agha reprimand

The International Cricket Council (ICC) reprimanded Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and handed him one demerit point for abusing his equipment during the second ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Agha reacted angrily after being controversially run out by Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He threw his gloves and helmet on the ground twice while walking back to the pavilion after the third umpire confirmed the dismissal. Match referee Neeyamur Rashid deemed the act a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which covers abuse of cricket equipment or fixtures during an international match.

Rashid clarified that Agha’s heated exchange with Litton Das was treated as a miscommunication and did not warrant punishment. He emphasised neutrality in judgment, noting that Agha had no prior record of such behaviour.

Miraz defended his decision to run Agha out, calling it a tactical move within the rules. Agha, while accepting the laws, said he would have upheld the “spirit of the game” in that moment. The incident has sparked debate in the cricket fraternity, with some calling Miraz’s move “cheap” and others defending it as legitimate.
