In a major breakthrough under Operation Netra, Brajrajnagar police in Jharsuguda arrested five accused involved in illegal arms trade.

Police teams, formed under the direction of IIC Dhableswar Sahu, raided multiple locations and seized five country-made pistols, four live bullets, and a motorcycle from the accused.

The arrested individuals were identified as Santosh Biswal of Rampur Colliery Ganjamia Pada, Sandeep Das of Chunabhata, Kahneya Sahis of Rampur Colliery Ward No. 6, Devendra Pal Singh of Main Market, and MD Munna of Ganganagar Muslima Pada.

Addressing a press conference, Jharsuguda SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra said the accused were involved in multiple illegal activities besides arms trading. He confirmed that cases under the Arms Act and other relevant sections have been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Officials said the arrests mark a significant success in curbing illegal firearms circulation in the region. The police assured that intensified operations will continue to dismantle such networks.

The press briefing was attended by Brajrajnagar SDPO Chintamani Pradhan and IIC Dhableswar Sahu.
