Taking a stern stance against corruption and administrative misconduct, Odisha Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has ordered a high-level probe into alleged financial irregularities and the misuse of government funds in Bhubaneswar Roads & Buildings (R&B) Division-1.
Taking serious note of the gravity and sensitivity of the allegations, Minister Harichandan instructed the Works Department to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into all facets of the matter under the leadership of a senior departmental official.
The investigation report is required to include detailed factual findings, fix individual responsibility on culpable employees and officers, and recommend specific measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
In a swift administrative response, the Works Department issued an order on Friday afternoon removing the serving Superintending Engineer of Bhubaneswar R&B Division-1 from his post. Another officer has been posted in his place with immediate effect.
Extending the crackdown across the department, all Superintending Engineers across various divisions of the Works Department have been directed to verify all un-audited accounts. They must submit detailed financial verification reports countersigned by their respective Chief Construction Engineers (CCEs).
Reiterating the state government’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, Minister Harichandan emphasized that the matter is being handled with the utmost urgency, promising decisive action upon receipt of the final inquiry report.
