Odisha Secretariat is facing a serious shortage of senior officials, with several key posts lying vacant.
Responding to a question raised by MLA Souvic Biswal, the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi confirmed in a written reply that 105 posts of Under Secretary and one post of Additional Secretary remain unfilled.
The reply further revealed that two Joint Secretaries and two Deputy Secretaries’ posts are also vacant. In addition, four Desk Officer positions, 365 Sub-Divisional Officer posts, and 348 Assistant Sub-Divisional Officer posts are lying vacant.
The disclosure highlights the administrative challenges within the Secretariat, raising concerns about efficiency and governance. Officials said recruitment and appointments are being planned to address the shortage, but the scale of vacancies has already impacted the functioning of several departments.
