On March 8, International Women’s Day, the Odisha government will release the fourth instalment of its ambitious Subhadra Scheme.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that more than one crore twenty lakh women will receive funds directly in their bank accounts.

She confirmed that over Rs 5,000 crore will be disbursed in this instalment. Out of 1,12,57,667 applicants, 1,02,12,665 beneficiaries will receive Rs 5,000 each. Additionally, 2,13,198 new beneficiaries have been added to the list, while 36,385 women who filed grievances on the portal will also receive funds.

A grand event will be held at Talabania in Puri, where the Chief Minister will oversee the distribution. Parida explained that the beneficiary list is continuously updated. Women turning 21 will be included, while those crossing 60 years will be shifted to the pension scheme.

Launched in September 2024 by the BJP-led Odisha government, the Subhadra Scheme provides Rs 10,000 annually to women aged 21 to 60, distributed in two instalments of Rs 5,000 each. The initiative aims to strengthen women’s financial independence and ensure direct benefit transfers without middlemen.
