Bhubaneswar records rising temperatures as IMD issues fresh weather alerts for Odisha and northern India.
The Indian Meteorological Department warns four northern states of rainfall activity that offers relief from the intensifying heat. Temperatures climb rapidly across most northern cities. This weather system influences Odisha too.
An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level. This circulation extends from central Uttar Pradesh through northeast Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, and south Jharkhand. Dry conditions dominate most Odisha districts due to this system.
Dense fog blankets one or two places in Bhadrak district of north coastal Odisha. Moderate fog appears in one or two places across Khurda, Dhenkanal, and Jagatsinghpur districts. Maximum temperatures show no major change. Several interior Odisha locations register 5 degrees Celsius above normal. Jharsuguda hits the highest at 39.6 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures drop by up to 3 degrees Celsius in some areas while rising by 2 degrees in others. Rourkela records the lowest at 13.2 degrees Celsius. Interior districts maintain minimums 2-4 degrees below normal.
Dry weather continues across Odisha for the next three days. Scattered light to moderate rain chances emerge over the following five days. IMD issues a specific alert for Kalbaisakhi activity with thunderstorms and lightning over Odisha on March 8 and 9. Moderate fog lingers in several districts during the coming days.
This Odisha Kalbaisakhi event promises temporary respite from the prevailing dry and hot spell. Northern India’s rainfall warnings align with pre-monsoon patterns that gradually approach eastern regions.
