Barang: Panic ran high among the visitors at lion safari in Nandankanan zoo here on Tuesday after a bus carrying them got stuck in the mud.
According to reports, bus no. 76, carrying around 23 persons was out on the tour at around 11 AM when it got stuck at the lion safari. The visitors were in a state of fright as there were two lions at the time of the incident. However, the guides present inside the vehicle handled them.Â
Later, after being informed, Sanctuary ranger Sudipta Kumar Panda along with his team reached the spot and started the rescue operation. They first sent the lions into the cage and later rescued all the visitors to another bus.
In the operation, one JCB, two tractors, and around 15 staff were engaged in the operation work.
Sources said the bus driver could not manage to bring the vehicle from the dug as it was kaccha road. The lion safari is big draw among tourists from other states.
