Hockey India named a 20‑member Indian Women’s Hockey Team for the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers scheduled in Hyderabad, Telangana, from March 8 to 14.
Hosts India will compete alongside England, Scotland, Korea, Italy, Uruguay, Wales, and Austria for three qualification spots at the World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands this August.
Seasoned midfielder Salima Tete will continue as captain, providing leadership and stability. Goalkeepers Bansari Solanki and Bichu Devi Kharibam will share responsibilities. The defensive line includes Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Nikki Pradhan, Manisha Chauhan, Udita, and Ishika Chaudhary. Midfield strength comes from Salima Tete, Neha, Sunelita Toppo, Sakshi Rana, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, and Deepika Soreng.
India’s attacking unit features Navneet Kaur, Ishika, Lalremsiami, Beauty Dungdung, Baljeet Kaur, and Annu, combining flair and finishing power. Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne expressed confidence in the squad, noting that fitness and tactical drills have prepared the team for the crucial tournament. He confirmed that India will play two practice matches in Hyderabad before the qualifiers.
India open their campaign against Uruguay on March 8, followed by matches against Scotland on March 9 and Wales on March 11. Live streaming of the qualifiers will be available on Star Sports Khel and JioHotstar.
