A tragic incident occurred in Kendubadi village under Badhinuapalli panchayat, Khallikote police limits, in Ganjam district, where a newlywed woman died on the fourth night of her marriage.
The deceased was identified as Pooja Behera, daughter of Shankar Behera of Ramachandrapur village. She married Bipin Jena, son of Vidyadhar Jena of Kendubadi, on February 20.
On the fourth night after marriage, Pooja reportedly felt sudden illness and collapsed unconscious. Family members, along with her mother, who lives nearby, rushed her to Khallikote Community Health Centre. Doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Khallikote police seized the body and sent it for post‑mortem examination. Officers, including IIC Ramesh Kumar Pradhan and SI Manasi Sahu, visited Kendubadi village and began an investigation.
So far, Pooja’s family has not lodged any written complaint with the police. However, her sudden and unnatural death has created shock and grief in the village and among relatives.
Police said further details will emerge after the post‑mortem report and completion of the inquiry.
