Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi offered floral tributes to Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra on his death anniversary at the poet’s statue near the Odisha Legislative Assembly in Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Minister honoured the legendary poet and remembered his immense contribution to Odia literature and culture.
Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra, creator of Bande Utkala Janani, inspired generations with his writings that reflected patriotism and love for the motherland. His works enriched the Odia language and literature while awakening national pride among Odias.
Several dignitaries joined the Chief Minister in paying homage. Speaker Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Speaker Bhabanishankar Bhoi, Minister of Odia Language, Literature and Culture Suryabanshi Suraj, Digapahandi MLA Siddhant Mahapatra, Government Chief Whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan, Odia Language and Culture Secretary Dr. Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout, senior journalist Guru Kalyan Mahapatra, intellectuals, and social workers attended the ceremony. They offered tributes and recalled Kantakabi’s legacy.
