Residents from Kendrapara and Niali regions, along with members of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), gathered at the State Guest House in Bhubaneswar this evening to felicitate Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the pro-people provisions in the 2026-27 Odisha budget.

The event saw locals expressing gratitude for initiatives aimed at regional development, education, infrastructure, and worker welfare.

The budget, presented recently, includes key announcements such as the establishment of a new university in Kendrapara district, the upgrading of the Phulnakhara-Niali Madhab road to a four-lane highway, and the withdrawal of professional tax effective from April 1. Attendees hailed these measures as steps toward fulfilling the aspirations of every section of society and accelerating Odisha’s overall growth.

Mahakalpada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak praised the university initiative, noting that higher education in Kendrapara has been neglected since independence. “This decision fulfils the long-standing dreams of the district’s residents,” he said. He also highlighted proposals to beautify the Baladevjew Temple and set up a shipbuilding factory in Kendrapara, which are expected to create extensive employment opportunities for the youth.

Similarly, Niali MLA Chhabi Mallick emphasised the road upgrade’s benefits, stating it would reduce accidents and strengthen transportation links in the area.

Representatives from the BMS thanked the CM for abolishing professional tax, saying it would particularly benefit contractual workers across the state.

This felicitation follows a similar event yesterday, where thousands from Jagatsinghpur district honoured the CM for announcements of a university and an engineering college in their area. Today’s gathering included around a thousand participants from Kendrapara, Niali, and the BMS.

The budget’s inclusive approach has been widely appreciated, with locals believing it will propel Odisha’s development by addressing grassroots needs.
