Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking incident on Wednesday morning when a woman in Nayapalli’s Gad Sahii area was robbed at gunpoint.
The assailant threatened her with a firearm and snatched her gold ornaments before fleeing on a bike.
The victim, who was outside her house sweeping, said the robber first pointed the gun at her head and demanded gold. As she trembled in fear, the accused struck her on the back and forcibly took away her ornaments. The incident left the woman shaken and terrified, while panic spread among local residents.
Following the complaint lodged at Nayapalli police station, officers reached the spot and began an investigation. Police have formed a special team to identify the accused using CCTV footage from the locality. Officials assured that efforts are underway to arrest the culprit at the earliest.
Residents expressed concern over rising chain-snatching and robbery cases in the capital city. Many said they now fear going out for morning walks. Police have increased patrolling in the area and advised women to remain cautious, especially when walking alone in the early hours.
