Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday visited the Control and Grievance Redressal Centre of the Odisha State Food Corporation to review the ongoing Kharif paddy procurement process across the state.
With paddy procurement in full swing during the Kharif season, the state government has taken multiple measures to safeguard farmers’ interests. A dedicated control room is operational to address any complaints of irregularities promptly. Minister Patra inspected the centre’s functioning, reviewed the paddy purchasing process at mandis, monitored CCTV coverage, vehicle tracking systems from mandis to mills, and live footage arrangements.
The Minister also interacted with farmers, mandi officials, and nodal officers to understand their concerns and facilities. He was informed that farmers can register complaints directly through the toll-free helpline 1967.
Emphasising zero tolerance for irregularities, Minister Patra directed departmental officials to ensure immediate resolution of any complaints related to paddy procurement.
Odisha State Food Corporation Managing Director K. Sudarshan Chakravarthy briefed the Minister on the centre’s operations and the steps taken for swift grievance redressal. Senior officials from the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department and the Corporation were present during the visit.
