Congress legislator Sofia Firdous, representing the Barabati-Cuttack Assembly constituency, has strongly criticized the persistent traffic chaos on the Rasulgarh flyover and renewed her call for the immediate implementation of a metro rail project connecting Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The MLA expressed her frustration after being stuck in a massive traffic jam on the Rasulgarh flyover for over an hour. Taking to social media platform X, she described the situation as a “nightmare,” stating that the traffic congestion had created complete disorder. “Rasulgarh flyover is a nightmare. Stuck for over an hour. Traffic jam is creating total anarchy,” she posted.

Highlighting the growing need for better public transport, Firdous emphasized that the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack region urgently requires a metro rail system. She pointed out that approximately ₹200 crore has already been spent on the project, yet it has been pushed back, which she termed unfortunate.

The MLA urged the state government to expedite the start of the metro project without further delay.

Firdous’s demand comes amid ongoing public frustration over urban mobility issues in the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack corridor, where rapid urbanization and increasing vehicle numbers have intensified traffic problems on key routes like the Rasulgarh flyover.
