Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered the closure of Unit-I Hat today following a devastating fire accident late last night.
The blaze broke out in the front area outside vending kiosks, damaging more than 40 shops.
Authorities announced that both inside and outside areas of the market will remain closed on January 20 to facilitate cleaning and removal of debris. Officials will also carry out a detailed inspection of fire safety arrangements in and around the market premises.

Vendors have been requested to cooperate with BMC staff during the cleaning and inspection drive. The fire incident has caused heavy losses to traders, with several shops reduced to ashes.
