A magnificent 286-kg golden bow (Ram Dhanu), crafted as a devotional offering to Lord Shree Ram, arrived at Shrikshetra (Puri) late on Sunday night, en route to the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The intricately designed ‘Swarna Dhanush’, originating from Rourkela, Odisha, traversed various districts of the state before reaching the holy precincts of Puri. Upon arrival, it was reverently placed at the Uttaraparswa Math, where devotees gathered to catch a glimpse of this sacred symbol of devotion.
The bow, valued at approximately ₹1.10 crore, has been meticulously crafted using 1 kg of gold, 2.5 kg of silver, along with a special alloy of copper, zinc, and iron. Measuring about 8 feet in length and 3 feet in width, it also features symbolic elements including an idol of Lord Jagannath and a filigree crown, blending the spiritual legacies of Ayodhya and Puri.
Devotees will have the opportunity to offer darshan at the Uttaraparswa Math premises throughout the day.
A grand spiritual program is scheduled for Monday morning, featuring devotional hymns (stotra paath), bhajans, kirtans, and traditional Gotipua dance performances. Amid this divine atmosphere, the bow will be carried in a ceremonial parikrama (circumambulation) around the Shree Mandir after 12:30 PM, accompanied by enthusiastic devotees.
Following the parikrama, the sacred procession will depart from Puri towards Ayodhya. The bow is set to reach the Shree Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, where it will be offered at the lotus feet of Lord Shree Ramchandra.
This yatra, organized by the Sanatan Jagarana Manch (a unit of Smile Forever Foundation), symbolizes the deep devotion of Odisha’s people towards Lord Ram and strengthens the cultural-spiritual bond between Shrikshetra and Ayodhya.
The arrival of the Ram Dhanu has filled the air in Puri with fervor, as thousands of devotees prepare to participate in the historic rituals and send off this magnificent tribute on its final leg to Ayodhya.
