Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today laid the foundation stone for a new campus of the Assembly and Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. The ambitious project will be constructed on 71.13 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 3,623 crore.
The proposed Assembly building will feature a modern meeting hall with a seating capacity of 300 members. Unlike the current Assembly premises, the new campus will include an underground parking facility, ensuring better space management and convenience.
The campus, officially named “Lok Seva Bhawan and Mantranalaya Building,” is envisioned as a state-of-the-art hub for governance and public service delivery.
Law, Works & Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan praised Odisha’s new 300-seat Legislative Assembly as CM Majhi’s long-held vision, with construction starting after 1.5 years of planning to modernise state governance.
Harichandan emphasised the urgent need for an advanced Lok Seva Bhawan due to expanded departments and staff numbers outgrowing existing infrastructure, aligning with June 2025 government announcements for integrated new buildings, including a secretariat.
