In an inspiring convocation ceremony held at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi lauded the dedication of police cadets and emphasized the importance of modernization and public trust in policing.

As the chief guest at the 8th Deputy Inspector General and 12th Inspector General of Police convocation ceremony, the Chief Minister received the salute at the passing out parade and felicitated 4 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) and 171 Sub-Inspector Probationers who completed their basic training.

Addressing the cadets, CM Majhi urged them to adopt uniformed service as a means of serving the people and earning the trust of the common man.

“Our government is committed to modernizing the police and reforming the police system,” stated the Chief Minister. He highlighted the critical role of the police in ensuring the safety of the poor, women, and children, and called upon the cadets to be prepared for the challenges ahead. “You will lead the police force in areas such as crime control, investigation efficiency, justice delivery, public safety, and dealing with natural disasters and Maoist suppression,” he said.

CM Majhi stressed the need for the police force to adopt modern investigative processes and technology to tackle hi-tech crimes. He praised the Odisha Police for solving many blind cases through intelligence and investigation techniques.

“Our government will take necessary steps to address the shortages and problems faced by police personnel. We are committed to filling all vacant posts and creating new ones, and every Sub-Inspector will be equipped with a motorbike, laptop, mobile phone, and pen drive to enhance their capacity,” announced the Chief Minister. He also underscored the importance of truthfulness, duty, and zero tolerance for corruption and misuse of power.

Odisha DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania congratulated the trainees and emphasized that the khaki uniform of the police should always be dedicated to duty and the people.

The event was attended by senior and retired police officers, academy instructors, staff, and the guardians of the trainees. Biju Patnaik State Police Academy Director Sanjeev Panda and Inspector General of Security (Training) Shri Anup Kumar Sahu were also present at the ceremony.
