Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today urged the state’s youth to hone their skills in any field, assuring them that ample employment opportunities await right within Odisha.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Odisha Skills Competition 2025-26, the CM highlighted the government’s target to achieve excellence across all levels of skill development, which he described as essential for the state’s sustainable growth and economic progress.

The event celebrated the achievements of skilled young students, with the Chief Minister presenting gold medals to 54 winners, silver to 53, and bronze to 50. Each gold medalist received a cash prize of Rs 25,000, silver winners got Rs 20,000, and bronze recipients were awarded Rs 15,000, along with certificates of merit.

“Make yourself proficient in any field, and you’ll see that employment will come to you right here in Odisha,” said CM Majhi, addressing the talented students. He emphasised that Odisha is undergoing widespread industrialisation, creating a conducive environment for jobs. “Our goal is to achieve excellence in skills at every level,” he added.

The CM outlined the government’s vision, stating that skill development is a critical necessity for long-term development and economic advancement. “Our primary aim is to empower people. The more skilled and confident our youth become, the brighter their future—and Odisha’s future—will be,” he said. This aligns with the broader goals of a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.

Highlighting the three key pillars of Odisha’s industrialisation drive—infrastructure, a favourable business environment, and skill enhancement—Majhi noted that efforts are ongoing to strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem. In the last 18 months alone, projects worth Rs 6.15 lakh crore have been approved, expected to generate 3.64 lakh jobs.

To further boost student skills, the government is transforming 47 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Centers of Excellence, with investments in infrastructure and advanced training. Additionally, nine ITIs will soon feature Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratories to equip youth with cutting-edge expertise in emerging technologies.

Industry and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain described the competition as more than just an event: “It showcases the collective aspirations of a new Odisha, identifying talent, promoting excellence, and opening doors to national and international opportunities.”

The ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, and Departmental Commissioner Bhupendra Singh Poonia.

This initiative underscores Odisha’s commitment to building a skilled workforce, positioning the state as a hub for industrial and technological innovation.
