Popular Odia jatra actor Piyush Tripathy has vowed to remain on stage even as contract disputes and a court directive intensify.

Speaking to the media, Piyush emphasised that jatra is an inseparable part of his life. He explained that he cannot imagine living without it. Recently, he joined the Singhbahini Jatra Party and returned to the stage after a six‑month break. However, another troupe accused him of violating a two‑year agreement and quickly issued a legal notice.

Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar court reportedly directed him not to perform until the next hearing. Yet Piyush insisted that he had not received any official notice. He declared, “I live for jatra, I will not leave the stage. I have not received any notice yet; once I do, I will decide my next step. I trust the law, and I believe truth will prevail.”

Furthermore, he demanded that the disputed agreement be made public. He argued, “If everything is going public, then let the two‑year agreement also be public. Only then will people know the real cause of this dispute.”

As a result, the controversy has sparked widespread discussion in the Odia jatra community. Supporters rallied around Piyush and expressed solidarity, while theatre enthusiasts hoped for a quick resolution. Ultimately, the dispute has highlighted the growing tension between tradition, contracts, and the passion of performers.
