Residents of Nuapali village under Kalapathar panchayat in Subarnapur district discovered the blood-soaked body of a youth near Hagiri Munda road on Monday morning.
Locals immediately informed his family and the police.
Biramaharajpur police reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased has been identified as Pankaj Jagadla, 45, of Nuapali village. Police stated that the exact cause of the murder will be known after the investigation concludes.
A sniffer dog unit joined the investigation team at the crime scene to gather further clues. Authorities are examining possible motives behind the killing.
Pankaj leaves behind an elderly father and three daughters. Villagers have demanded government compensation for the bereaved family.
