The paddy procurement process for the current Kharif season is progressing rapidly in Odisha, with operations currently active in 12 districts.
The districts where procurement is underway include Bargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Boudh, Ganjam, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, and Subarnapur.
Extensive preparations are in place in the remaining districts, with procurement set to begin progressively. Registered farmers are being provided advance information and tokens to facilitate a hassle-free process.
As of today, a total of 4,97,494 metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from 1,11,128 farmers across these districts. District-wise highlights include:
– Bargarh: 1,79,526 MT from 40,162 farmers
– Sambalpur: 1,34,706 MT from 28,933 farmers
– Kalahandi: 89,890 MT from 19,592 farmers
– Nuapada: 57,078 MT from 13,540 farmers
To date, approximately ₹807 crore has been disbursed to farmers’ accounts as Minimum Support Price (MSP), along with ₹249 crore as input assistance.
Nodal officers appointed at each mandi are closely monitoring the procurement process, ensuring quality checks and verification. Basic amenities are being provided at the mandis for the convenience of farmers. The government has prioritised swift payments, with MSP and input assistance amounts credited within 48 hours.
The Supply Department has taken comprehensive measures to address any complaints promptly. Officials are working round-the-clock to maintain transparency and efficiency.
