In a swift anti-corruption operation, the Odisha Vigilance team on Friday apprehended Pradipta Kumar Sethi, Additional Tahasildar and In-Charge Tahasildar of Binjharpur Tahasil in Jajpur district, while he was allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a landowner.
According to official sources, Sethi had demanded the bribe in exchange for providing a favourable demarcation of the complainant’s land. The Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught him red-handed during the transaction. The entire tainted bribe amount of Rs 30,000 was recovered from his possession and seized as evidence.
Following the arrest, Cuttack Vigilance Police Station registered Case No. 36 dated 19.12.2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against the accused officer. Investigation into the matter is underway, the Odisha Vigilance Directorate said.
