In a significant victory for anti-corruption efforts, Manasi Sahoo, former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Malidihi RI Circle under Rajgangpur Tahasil in Sundargarh district (presently posted as RI in Rourkela Tahasil), was convicted today by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh.
She was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 10 dated 27.03.2019 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The case stemmed from allegations that Smt. Sahoo demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 8,000 from a land buyer in exchange for submitting a favourable enquiry report in mutation cases, facilitating the issuance of Records of Rights (RORs) in his favour.
The court sentenced her to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years, along with a fine.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has announced that it will approach the competent authority to initiate proceedings for the dismissal of Smt. Manasi Sahoo from government service.
This conviction underscores the Odisha Vigilance Directorate’s ongoing commitment to rooting out corruption in public service, particularly in revenue administration, where land-related matters often become vulnerable to graft.
