Civil service aspirants in Odisha have raised serious allegations against the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), claiming that the commission has violated the reservation norms in the ongoing Odisha Civil Services (OCS) 2025 recruitment process.

According to the aspirants, the OPSC has only allotted 35% of the seats to the unreserved category instead of the mandated 50%.

A group of aspirants, determined to voice their concerns, met with the Chief Minister of Odisha and submitted a grievance letter regarding the issue. They highlighted that out of the 200 posts advertised by the OPSC, only 70 have been allocated to the unreserved category. The notification also reserves 65 of the 200 posts for women across all categories.

The advertised vacancies include positions for Odisha Administrative Service (Junior Branch), Odisha Finance Service (Junior Branch) in Group A, and several Group B services like Odisha Taxation & Accounts Service, Odisha Co-operative Audit Service, and Odisha Revenue Service.

The allegations come at a time when there are growing concerns about corruption and lack of coordination between government recruitment agencies. Recently, the Students Against Corruption (SAC) staged a protest in Bhubaneswar, alleging irregularities in the recruitment processes for other posts, leading to the disqualification of over 300 candidates.

The aspirants are now urging the authorities to address these issues promptly and ensure a fair recruitment process that adheres to the mandated reservation norms. The Chief Minister’s office has yet to respond to these allegations.
