Odisha Government held a state-level management committee meeting on AgriStack under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
The meeting reviewed digital crop survey progress and farmer registration initiatives.
AgriStack, developed by the Government of India, integrates agricultural data on land and crops to deliver targeted services digitally. Odisha adopted the platform to strengthen crop surveys, farmer identification, and GPS-based mapping of rural areas.
Senior officials, including Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Director of Agriculture Shubham Saxena, and Commissioner of Cooperation Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, attended. Rajeev Chawla, Chief Adviser to the Government of India, and Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, joined virtually.
The meeting compared digital crop surveys of the kharif and rabi seasons for 2024 and 2025. Kharif crops included paddy, cotton, maize, millet, and cashew, while rabi crops covered moong, biri, groundnut, and paddy. According to 2025 data, Bargarh and Jharsuguda districts achieved top performance in kharif land surveys. Overall success rate across districts reached 94 per cent.
Officials noted significant improvements in survey methodology compared to previous years. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics participated in monitoring. Authorities initiated action against surveyors, supervisors, and vendors who failed to perform duties. Data security measures strengthened the reliability of the survey.
The Government of India praised Odisha’s outstanding performance in the digital crop survey. Rajeev Chawla commended the state team and described Odisha’s system as a model for other states. Odisha achieved 96.67 per cent accuracy with the lowest national error rate of 3.33 per cent. The meeting also discussed farmer registration, where Jharsuguda district emerged as the best performer.
Odisha continues to lead in digital governance of agriculture, setting benchmarks for accuracy and efficiency under the Odisha Digital Crop Survey initiative.
