IPL 2026 Auction: Teams Reshape Squads with Big Releases and Bold Retentions

Franchises prepare for the high-stakes IPL 2026 auction with surprising exits, strategic retentions, and varied purse balances.

The IPL 2026 auction promises drama as franchises reveal retained and released players.


Kolkata Knight Riders enter with the largest purse of Rs 64.30 crore and 13 slots, while Mumbai Indians face the tightest budget of Rs 2.75 crore and five slots.

Chennai Super Kings shock fans by releasing Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. Rajasthan Royals quickly secure both stars, strengthening their lineup with Jadeja’s all-round ability and Curran’s versatility. CSK still holds ₹43.40 crore and nine slots, giving them room to rebuild.

Delhi Capitals retain KL Rahul and Mitchell Starc, but release Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk. Gujarat Titans keep Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan, while letting go of Sherfane Rutherford and Dasun Shanaka.

Kolkata Knight Riders release Andre Russell and Quinton de Kock, signalling a fresh approach. Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine remain central to their plans. Lucknow Super Giants retain Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran, while parting ways with David Miller and Ravi Bishnoi.

Mumbai Indians retain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, but release Arjun Tendulkar and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Punjab Kings let go of Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson, while retaining Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru keep Virat Kohli and Josh Hazlewood, but release Liam Livingstone and Mayank Agarwal. Sunrisers Hyderabad retain Pat Cummins and Travis Head, while releasing Mohammed Shami and Adam Zampa.

The IPL 2026 auction sets the stage for intense bidding wars. Fans anticipate fierce competition as franchises chase balance, star power, and future success.
