Odisha is grappling with Rs 6,957.57 crore in pending electricity bills, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singhdeo informed the Assembly in response to a question raised by Congress Legislature Party leader Ramchandra Kadam.
According to Singhdeo, out of the total dues, Rs 6,558.64 crore remains unpaid by general consumers, while Rs 398.93 crore is pending from industrial and commercial consumers.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the House that multiple measures are being taken to recover the outstanding amounts. These include stricter enforcement, improved monitoring, and coordinated efforts with distribution companies to ensure timely collection.
