The government has introduced new patient-centric initiatives under ABPMJAY-GJAY to ensure uninterrupted cashless treatment for beneficiaries in Odisha.

This decision was made during the empowered committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, held today in the Lokseva Bhawan conference hall.

Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Aswathy S, presented the issues, while Dr Brundha D, the Chief Executive Officer of the State Health Assurance Society, provided updates for discussion.

During the meeting, Chief Secretary Ahuja emphasised the need for strict enforcement measures to prevent suspicious claims, ensure compliance with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by empanelled hospitals, and combat fraudulent practices.

The committee discussed the inclusion of 73 new state-specific treatment packages in oncology, haematology, and ophthalmology, bringing the total number of treatment packages for Odisha to 2,163.

Additionally, they reviewed a proposal to adopt 121 new oncology packages and to revise the rates for 55 existing packages, as recommended by the medico-expert committee.

Other topics addressed included the phased rollout of ABPMJAY-GJAY in government health facilities, the redesignation of 1,009 Swasthya Mitras (SMs) to Pradhan Mantri Arogya Mitras (PMAMs), and the offline settlement of claims for treatments of dependent children aged 6 to 18 whose names did not appear in the IT platform during the transition from GJAY to the combined program of ABPMJAY-GJAY.

The committee also discussed providing an interest-free revolving fund of ₹10 lakh to the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) to support cashless high-end diagnostic services for cancer patients.

Committee members expressed that these measures, while enhancing the outreach of the universal health program, will also increase the satisfaction levels of the population.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of Finance Sanjeeb Mishra, Principal Secretary of Electronics and IT Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Sanjay Kumar Singh, along with other senior officers and experts, participated in the deliberations.
