Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced in the Assembly on Tuesday that the government will demolish all unsafe buildings in Cuttack city to protect public safety.
Mahapatra responded to a written question and stated that the government has already formed a special committee under the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) to identify unsafe structures. The committee is surveying all CMC wards and assessing the condition of buildings.
Mahapatra further clarified that once the survey ends, the government will take legal action without delay. Officials will issue notices to owners of unsafe buildings, and if owners ignore the notices, the government will demolish the structures to eliminate risks.
This announcement highlights the government’s proactive approach to urban safety and shows its determination to prevent accidents caused by dilapidated structures.
