Odisha Hosts 37th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship

The 37th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship began today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.


This tournament is jointly organised by the Badminton Association of India, the Odisha State Badminton Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Government of Odisha. It will take place from December 1st to December 6th.

The opening ceremony was attended by Sports & Youth Services Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, who graced as the Chief Guest. In his address, Minister Suraj expressed pride in hosting the 37th Sub-Junior National Badminton Championship in Odisha.

Minister Suraj noted that players from various states and union territories have gathered to compete in this prestigious event and expressed confidence that all participants would deliver outstanding performances. He further stated that organising national-level tournaments in Odisha will inspire young badminton talents across the state and contribute to building a brighter future for sports.

The tournament includes competitions in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories, with participation from shuttlers from across the country.

The inaugural event was also attended by several distinguished guests, including Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Sports & Youth Services Department; Dr. Yeddula Vijay, Director of the Sports & Youth Services Department; Dronacharya Awardee Coach Ganguly Prasad; Sanjeev Sachdeva, Selection Committee Member of the Indian Junior Badminton Team; V. Murali Krishna, Indian Para Badminton Coach; Gobardhan Reddy, Indian Badminton Coach; and K.K. Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Badminton Association of India.
