Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented a written reply in the Odisha Assembly today, detailing the sanctioned strength and current vacancies in the IAS, IPS, and IFS cadres of the state.

The response came after BJD MLA Pratap Keshari Deb raised a question during the ongoing winter session. Furthermore, Majhi clarified that these posts belong to the All India Services and the Government of India fills them. He emphasised that the state government coordinates with the Centre to ensure timely appointments and maintain administrative efficiency.

According to the figures shared in the Assembly:

  • IAS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 248; Present vacancies – 46
  • IPS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 195; Present vacancies – 67
  • IFS (Odisha Cadre): Sanctioned strength – 141; Present vacancies – 70

Moreover, the Chief Minister noted that vacancies in these cadres affect governance and service delivery. However, he assured that the Union Government oversees the process of filling posts. He reiterated that Odisha continues to press for adequate representation in these services to meet administrative demands.
