Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today declared that the state has become the most attractive destination in India for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and will soon emerge as the “MSME Gateway of Eastern India”.

Speaking at the valedictory session of the “Odisha Industry Conclave 2025” organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati at Railway Auditorium, Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister emphasised the pivotal role of MSMEs in making the economy vibrant and inclusive.

“This conclave will play a crucial role in promoting industrialisation and innovation in our MSME sector,” CM Majhi said, praising Laghu Udyog Bharati for supporting over 980 industrial units, creating employment and contributing to the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Highlighting Odisha’s investor-friendly ecosystem, he pointed out that projects are now being approved in a single day through the Go Swift Single Window portal. The state has allocated 6.1% of its GDP — the highest in the country — for infrastructure development this year.

“Small businesses do not merely contribute to the economy; they enrich it,” the Chief Minister remarked, citing global statistics that 90% of businesses worldwide and 50% of total employment come from the MSME sector. He welcomed Laghu Udyog Bharati’s plan to open a dedicated office in Bhubaneswar, stating it will strengthen industry-government collaboration right up to the grassroots level.

CM Majhi reiterated that “Viksit Odisha, Viksit Bharat” is not just a slogan but a firm commitment. He showcased success stories from Pipili appliqué, Raghurajpur pattachitra, Sambalpur textiles, Ganjam coir, women-led SHGs exporting world-class products, and the youth excelling in IT, animation, fintech and startups.

The Chief Minister described the Subhadra Yojana as a transformative initiative that is turning mothers into entrepreneurs. “Already 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis have been created, and in the coming days, we will create a culture of business among women across Odisha,” he added.

Minister for MSME Gokulananda Mallik said Odisha, a state of immense potential, is rapidly moving on the path of development. The government is taking concrete steps to promote Swadeshi products, empower MSMEs, support artisans and strengthen local supply chains.

Among others present on the dais were All India President of Laghu Udyog Bharati Madhusudan Dadu, All India Working Secretary Prakash Chandra, and Odisha President Gopal Das Agrawal.
