The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction will take place on November 27 in New Delhi, with 277 players competing for 73 slots.
Among them, 83 overseas players—66 capped and 17 uncapped—will vie for just 23 available positions.
To begin with, the marquee set features eight players, including six international stars: Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine, Alyssa Healy, Laura Wolvaardt, Amelia Kerr, and Meg Lanning. These names are expected to draw significant attention from franchises during the bidding process.
Furthermore, the auction pool highlights the growing global interest in the WPL, with players from Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the West Indies included. Their participation underscores the league’s rising stature as a premier platform for women’s cricket.
Officials confirmed that the auction will be conducted in multiple rounds, with franchises expected to strategise heavily to secure marquee talent while balancing squad composition.
As a result, fans are anticipating intense bidding wars, particularly for high-profile internationals who have consistently delivered in global tournaments. The inclusion of uncapped overseas players also adds intrigue, offering franchises the chance to invest in emerging talent.
