A charred body of an unidentified youth shocked villagers in Raitisahi Balidokan under Konark police limits in Puri district today.
Residents discovered the remains in a field and immediately alerted police.
Villagers reported that they spotted the burnt body early in the morning while crossing the farmland. Police reached the location quickly and began an investigation. The burns were so severe that officers struggled to identify the deceased. Initial suspicion suggested that the youth was murdered elsewhere and later set on fire in the field to destroy evidence.
Police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Officials confirmed that forensic experts would assist in analysing the scene. Investigators noted blood stains near the body, indicating possible foul play. Authorities stated that the autopsy report would provide clarity on the cause of death and help establish the sequence of events.
Meanwhile, villagers gathered at the site and demanded justice for the victim’s family. They urged police to strengthen security measures in the area to prevent similar crimes. The incident created panic in the locality, with residents expressing fear and outrage over the brutality.
Police assured the community of a thorough investigation. They emphasised that evidence collected from the field and forensic analysis would guide the probe. Officers also promised to identify those responsible and take strict legal action.
The discovery of the burnt body has raised serious concerns about safety in Konark. Villagers continue to demand accountability and stronger policing to protect lives and property.
