Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an extension of the world‑famous Cuttack Bali Yatra by one more day.

The festival, originally scheduled to conclude on November 12, will now continue until November 13.

The Chief Minister made the decision after witnessing the overwhelming response from the public and the strong participation of traders. Large crowds gathered at the festival grounds, and the enthusiasm of visitors prompted the government to extend the celebration. The extension ensures that more people can enjoy the cultural programs, traditional crafts, and trade activities that define the Bali Yatra.

Bali Yatra holds a special place in Odisha’s cultural heritage. The festival commemorates the ancient maritime trade links of Odisha with Southeast Asian countries. Thousands of visitors attend each year to experience the vibrant mix of tradition, commerce, and entertainment. The extension reflects the government’s commitment to supporting cultural heritage while also boosting local business opportunities.

Traders welcomed the announcement, noting that the additional day will allow them to reach more customers and increase sales. Families expressed joy at the chance to spend more time at the fair, which features food stalls, handicrafts, cultural performances, and exhibitions. The decision also highlights the festival’s growing popularity and its role in strengthening Odisha’s tourism appeal.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the extension aims to balance public interest with economic activity. The move underscores the importance of Bali Jatra as both a cultural celebration and a commercial hub. With the festival now continuing until November 13, Odisha residents and visitors have another day to immerse themselves in the grandeur of Cuttack Bali Yatra.
