The Indian Army killed two terrorists in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday evening after spotting suspicious movement. Following the encounter, search operations are ongoing across the region.

According to an official statement, based on specific intelligence from the Jammu & Kashmir Police and corroborated by multiple sources, a joint operation was launched in the Machhal Sector on October 13, 2025. When alerted troops challenged the suspicious activity, the terrorists opened fire, prompting the Army to respond effectively, neutralizing the threat. Authorities recovered a large quantity of weapons and equipment from the site.

High Alert Along Borders

With winter approaching, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged security forces to remain on high alert, ensuring that adverse weather does not aid infiltration attempts across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border.

The directive came during a high-level security review in Delhi, attended by Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, and other senior officials from the Government of India, the Army, and the Jammu & Kashmir administration.
