A cyclonic system may form over the northern Bay of Bengal around October 10, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert based on satellite observations and atmospheric models. The system is expected to develop into a low-pressure area and could intensify depending on sea surface conditions and wind patterns. Meteorologists are closely monitoring the situation for signs of further development into a depression or cyclone.
The northern Bay of Bengal is known for frequent post-monsoon cyclonic activity. If the system strengthens, it may bring heavy rainfall and gusty winds to coastal Odisha and neighboring states. Fishermen have been advised to stay cautious and avoid venturing into deep sea areas during this period.
IMD Bhubaneswar emphasized that this is an early-stage forecast and more accurate predictions will follow as the system evolves. The department will continue to issue updates to ensure public safety and preparedness.
