Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown against drug peddling in the state, the Commissionerate police has seized brown sugar from a mango orchard near the Tinigharia area under Mdhuapatna police limits in Cuttack and arrested three persons in this connection on Thursday.
Police have seized 1.12 kg of brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from their possession.
Acting on reliable inputs, special squad of Commissionerate police raided a mango orchard near Tinigharia area and arrested three persons.
The squad also seized a motor cycle used for this brown sugar trade, Rs 17,000 cash and four cellphones from the possession of the arrested persons, police soureces said.
Meanwhile, police have started interrogating the three accused to investigate more details about the main suppliers of the brown sugar and their transit route.
