The Odisha government will construct a modern disaster response building near Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The project will cost ₹200 crore and finish within two years. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari shared the plan publicly.

The building will house the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Fire Services, and Meteorology departments under one roof. Officials will coordinate emergency responses faster and more efficiently.

The hub will feature advanced disaster management technology. Odisha will collaborate with the central government to bring cutting-edge tools and systems. The goal is to improve readiness for floods, cyclones, and other natural calamities.

The facility will include real-time weather tracking, emergency communication systems, and rapid deployment infrastructure. Experts will monitor threats and act quickly. The hub will also serve as a training center for disaster response teams.

Odisha has faced multiple cyclones and floods in recent years. The new building aims to reduce damage and save lives. Officials believe this centralized system will strengthen coordination and decision-making.

The government wants to make Bhubaneswar a model for disaster preparedness. The hub will support both urban and rural areas. It will also help during health emergencies and industrial accidents.

Construction will begin soon. The state hopes to complete the project by 2027. Citizens and experts have welcomed the move.
