In a stunning display of dominance, Delhi Capitals (DC) emerged victorious against Mumbai Indians (MI) with a commanding 9-wicket win in Match 13 of the TATA Women’s Premier League 2025.

The foundation for DC’s triumph was laid by their formidable spin attack. Minnu Mani (3/17) and Jess Jonassen (3/25) dismantled MI’s batting lineup, restricting them to a modest 123/9. Jonassen’s brilliant performance earned her the Player of the Match award.

Chasing a target of 124, DC’s opening pair, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, delivered an exceptional performance. Lanning remained unbeaten on 60, while Verma contributed a quickfire 43. Their partnership propelled DC to a comfortable chase, with Lanning becoming the all-time leading run-getter in WPL history.

Despite a promising start by openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews, MI’s innings faltered under the pressure of DC’s disciplined bowling. MI managed to score just 123/9, unable to recover from early wickets.

MI’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, tried to rebuild the innings with Nat Sciver-Brunt, but both fell to DC’s relentless attack. The spin duo of Jonassen and Mani kept MI’s batters in check, ensuring a below-par total.

Delhi Capitals’ clinical performance, both with the ball and the bat, saw them secure their fourth win in six matches, cementing their position at the top of the WPL 2025 points table.
