The Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced that a second bridge over the Kathajodi River at Trisulia will be constructed soon to ease traffic congestion between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Responding to a query from Congress MLA Sofia Firdous, the Minister confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been submitted and administrative approval granted. The project is now in the tendering stage, managed by the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) Limited.
The proposed bridge will span 3.127 km and cost approximately ₹297.59 crore. It will include approach roads from Trisulia and Judicial Academy, drainage lanes, and box culverts. The construction is expected to be completed within 36 months of tender finalization.
This new bridge is designed to reduce pressure on National Highway-16 and the existing Subhas Bose Setu, which was inaugurated in July 2017 and built at a cost of ₹114 crore. The second bridge will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel time between the two cities, benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
