Marking International Coastal Clean-Up Day 2025, the Coastal Security Wing of Odisha Police launched a statewide cleanliness drive across all 18 Marine Police Stations in the coastal districts of Odisha.

The initiative, themed “Cleanliness is the Best Service to Mankind – Swachhata Hi Uttam Seva,” aimed to promote environmental stewardship and community participation in preserving the state’s rich marine ecosystem.

In a pioneering move, four Marine Police Stations extended the campaign to uninhabited islands along the Odisha coast:

  • MPS Paradeep at Boitarakuda
  • Talchua at Bhitarakanika
  • Talsari at Suvarna Island
  • Dhamara at Udabali Island

Led by Inspectors Babita Deury, Bimal Kumar Mallick, and Champabati Soren, these teams undertook clean-up operations in ecologically sensitive and remote areas, reinforcing Odisha Police’s commitment to marine biodiversity.

Over 350 police personnel, along with staff from the Departments of Fisheries and Forest, participated in the drive. The campaign also saw active involvement from fishermen communities, local stakeholders, and citizens, making it a collective effort toward a cleaner and greener coastline.

Delivering a message on the occasion, DGP YB Khurania, IPS, emphasized that the initiative was not just about physical cleanliness but about fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. He reaffirmed Odisha Police’s dedication to safeguarding the coastline and protecting marine life for future generations.
