Kalahandi police seized approximately 1 quintal and 60 kilograms of ganja during a raid in a forested area near the Nagjhari route under M. Rampur police limits.
The operation was conducted under the direction of the district SP, targeting a remote tribal and Maoist-affected region.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the illegal consignment while it was being prepared for transport. The raid led to the recovery of 14 sacks of ganja and the arrest of one individual, identified as Adesh Nayak from Mardinga village under Urladani Panchayat.
Police sources confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused, and he was produced before the district court today. The seizure is being hailed as a significant success in curbing narcotics trafficking in the region.
Authorities are intensifying surveillance in vulnerable zones, especially forest corridors often exploited for smuggling operations.
