Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, a premier institution for arts and culture, marked a significant milestone today with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Audio and Chroma Recording Studio.

The ceremony was graced by Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, who emphasised the studio’s role in promoting Odisha’s rich traditions in music, dance, and theatre.

“This modern facility is a tribute to Odisha’s vibrant cultural heritage,” said Minister Suraj. “It will empower our artistes to showcase their talent globally and preserve our legacy for future generations. The Culture Department will soon release a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure seamless access for both government programs and private institutions.” He highlighted the studio’s advanced technology, which is poised to elevate Odisha’s art and culture on national and international platforms.

During the event, Minister Suraj witnessed the recording of an Odissi dance performance at the Chroma Studio, a moment that underscored the facility’s potential to capture the essence of Odisha’s performing arts. He also visited the Classical and Folk Instruments Museum on campus, urging students to deepen their commitment to enriching Odisha’s literary, musical, dance, and folk traditions.

The event saw the presence of distinguished personalities, including Shri Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Dr. Bijay Kumar Jena, Principal of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, and renowned Odissi dancers Aruna Mohanty, Sujata Mohapatra, and Ileana Citaristi. Odia actor Shri Asrumochan Mohanty, Pragyan Ranjan Khatua, and several leading artistes from music, dance, and folk art also attended, celebrating this landmark initiative.

The new studio is expected to serve as a hub for cultural innovation, offering artistes a platform to create, record, and share Odisha’s artistic legacy with the world.
