As per the article published, Jena was declared to be “dead” on the government papers/documents while he was still well and alive.
As the living person was certified to be dead, he was unable to acquire the ration he rightfully deserved.
While Abhiram was “differently-abled” since birth, he received the certificate for the same. Following this, he used to get wages for the same and also 5kgs of rice from the Odisha government.
However, after November 2019 he stopped receiving the ration.
Upon enquiring with Odapada BDO it was known that he was pronounced dead on the certificate sing the past several months.
While the incident was deeply critised, locals demanded an inquiry and stringent action against the persons responsible for the mismanagement.
Upon reading the published news on Pragativadi, the Odisha minister directed for the inquiry.
